Q: What do you feed your animals?

Beef: Grassfed: Our beef cattle are 100% grass fed and finished. They do not eat any grain. Ever. We rotationally graze our cattle so they are moved daily to fresh pasture. During the winter months we use regenerative farming methods like bale grazing or unrolling bales to feed and move the cattle. Pork: Pasture Raised: Our hogs are pasture raised and rotated every 1-2 weeks onto fresh pasture. Hogs prefer to settle into an area so they are not moved daily like our other animals. No-GMOS: Our hogs are fed a non-GMO grain that contains soy and corn. Chicken Broilers (Meat Birds) and Egg Layers: Pasture Raised: Our Broiler Chickens are raised only during the warm summer months and are moved onto fresh pasture every day. Our laying hens are truly free range. They are moved in portable chicken coops we call “schooners” during the warmer months when forage is growing in Michigan. During the colder winter months, we use a deep bedding system and roll out hay for our layers to forage through. No-GMOS: Our poultry are fed a non-GMO grain that contains soy and corn. How do I place an order?

Accepted Answer

All orders are made online. You may select for local pickup or shipping. We have a $75 order minimum for all orders. We do not have a staffed storefront.

Shipping Orders Orders are shipped out via UPS Ground Monday-Wednesday to ensure same week delivery. Shipping orders that are placed Thursday-Sunday will be shipped the following week.

**Local Orders ** Once your order is placed online, we generally have it packed and ready for pickup within 24 business hours. You will receive an email notification when your order is packed and ready for pickup. Our pick-up location is entirely self-serve. Upon arrival, you will find your order with your name on it in one of our customer freezers.

Is Rebel Pasture Organic?

We are not organic certified and proud of that fact. The truth is that in the current state of our food system-organic means very little if you don't know the farmer that raised the food you are eating. This label claim, just like pasture raised, grassfed, free range, cage free, etc, have all been hijacked so they no longer have any meaning behind them. A large amount of organic food is even being imported from outside our country-where we have no idea how it's treated, raised, or processed. Here at Rebel we believe in knowing your farmer because that's the only way you will know your food.

Do you use Vaccines on your animals?

While some of our animals receive vaccines, we do not use ANY mRNA vaccines. We wrote a blog about it last year with some more information about how we view vaccines and medical care in general. Our laying hens receive a vaccine for the Mareks Virus and our cattle receive vaccines as calves for respiratory and diarrhea viruses and clostridial diseases. Our meat chickens, turkeys and hogs do not receive any vaccines.

The only time we treat with any medicine is if an animal becomes seriously ill. We’re not against medicine on a case-by-case basis where needed, but we are against the broad and routine application of it. We only treat for legitimate health concerns, which is rare. Other than that, it’s Mother Nature doing her thing.

How do I pickup my order at the Farm?

Our pickup room is open daily from 7am - 7pm 365 days a year.

Once your order is placed online, we generally have it packed and ready for pickup within 24 business hours. You will receive an email notification when your order is packed and ready for pickup. Once you have received your pickup notification, you can come any day that works with your schedule. Upon arrival, you will find your order with your name on it in our freezer. Our local pickup process is 100% self-serve.

Do you use chemicals, antibiotics or other medicines?

We do not use any herbicides, fungicides or pesticides on our farms.

We do not use any hormones on our animals. Regarding antibiotics and other treatments, the only time we treat with any medicine is if an animal becomes seriously ill. We’re not against medicine on a case-by-case basis where needed, but WE ARE against the broad and routine application that is used in standard conventional agriculture practices. Because we raise them in fresh air and sunshine, with their natural choice of food, they are healthy and rarely require any medical interventions. However, we also raise our animals humanely, thus we will treat them if required rather than let them suffer. After treatment, we go above and beyond the recommended withdrawal periods to ensure the animal is safe for harvesting.

We only treat for legitimate health concerns, which is rare. Other than that, it’s Mother Nature doing her thing.
